Here’s is a very fun new take on a classic Christmas tune from 1947. This was original made famous by Gene Autry, one of the songwriters. What he didn’t have in mind originally was to put it in 7/8 time. And that’s just what I did here. I also gave some of the chords a touch of reharmonizing to give it more of a jazz flavor. This has a very infectious groove and I’m sure you could use this as a basis for a very fun performance this holiday season. It could be a fun way to introduce your students to meters that we don’t usually encounter. There is one vocal part, one piano part, and chord names for guitar or other instruments to accompany with. It is presented in the key of C and there are four pages in the score. I’m also including a two page lead sheet that omits the piano part. The duration is approximately two and a half minutes.
